Woman sent over $1.4 mil to a man she's only met online
A woman has defended her decision to sent $1.4 million to her online lover in Africa - who she has never met. Twice-divorced Sarah met Chris Olsen online 18 months ago. Though the mysterious man's accent has changed over time, and he keeps asking for money to be wired to various different countries, Sarah insists she is '95 per cent certain' that he is telling her the truth. Despite his numerous attempts to come home so they can be together, she says, he keeps getting arrested on false charges.
Sarah has been sending money overseas to a man she has never met. The man, who says his name is Chris Olsen, has been contacting Sarah for the past 18 months, over which time she has sent him around $1 million. Sarah says she is 95% sure it isn't a scam.
Sarah's cousin Crystal isn't as trusting as Sarah. Crystal is trying to find out whether Chris Olsen is who he says he is. However, Crystal says, “If Sarah continues sending ‘Chris’ money, she’s going to have nothing left.”
Olsen claims to be on a business trip in South Africa as a widower with two daughters. Dr. Phil highlights these warning signs to look out for with online love scammers.
People watching the Dr. Phil episode were quick to point out that this was almost definitely a scam.
Fingers crossed that Olsen is real and will payer her back!
